Network Transformers

Safe and Reliable Electrical Service

Prolec GE Safe-NET® network transformers are capable of handling significant short-term overload conditions in applications where safety, reliability, service continuity and minimum maintenance are the key objectives.

Certain environments have space limitations that require network transformers to be installed in various applications, such as indoor/outdoor vaults or inside buildings, putting them in close proximity to pedestrian traffic. Due to this placement, transformers can be either partially or fully submerged in fresh water or salt water run-offs, which can cause corrosion and damage to the network transformer.

Our patented, corrosion-resistant tank design, evolved from products with 85+ years of service, minimizes the danger from a transformer rupture event, mitigating its impact to adjacent assets and public safety.

  • Underground metropolitan vault applications
  • Government, commercial, institutional and industrial facilities
  • Office towers, skyscrapers
  • Vault applications with occasional/continuous submersion

Safe-NET® can also be applied to non-network applications where superior sealing and corrosion protection are of primary importance. These non-network applications also include inter-tie [step] transformers for interconnecting two different voltage systems.

  • Ratings: 300 – 2500 kVA, 3-phase (custom designed kVA ratings available, such as 600 kVA)
  • Voltage: HV from 2.4 kV – 34.5 kV and LV from 216 Y/125 – 4330 Y/2500
  • Insulating Fluid: Mineral oil or natural ester fluid (including VG100®)
  • Meet required DOE efficiency levels and IEEE standards, including C57.12.40 and C57.12.24
  • Suitable for secondary networks and spot networks
  • Patented rupture resistant tank design capable of withstanding in excess of 11 MJ of energy
  • High short-circuit strength
  • Insulation system designed for increased loading capacity
  • Rugged clamping
  • Safe lifting provisions
Product Testing
